My Bull Terrier, Austin

Well here is a acrylic painting of my wonderful Bull Terrier and best friend, Austin. It measures 18 x 24 inches and was done on Arches Hot pressed watercolor paper. I really wanted to explore with the brindle color and bring out the colors in it. Some are with a little artistic license too ;-) .

New Work "Sheena" a Mixed Breed

Well here is another commission piece of an adorable senior mixed breed named Sheena. It's a mixed media piece a combination of oil pastel and acrylic (which is my mediums of preference right now.) She was a difficult dog to do because her colors were very muted and almost washed out. I tried working timidly trying to get the variation of mottled grey in her coat, but I realized the painting was getting washed out. So I decided to turn up the volume a bit with some bolder color and big strokes. Hopefully the owner will like her painting, but I will soon find out.

Welcome!

Welcome to my first blog! I am a dog artist and all around dog lover and nut! This is my most recent commission, Low Rider, a sweet girl who sadly had to be put to sleep this month. Her owner wanted to remember her with this portrait. She was found in FL at a Toll Booth! Check out for new work that I will add here or visit my main site at http://www.amberlowe.com ! ~Amber
